Entertainment Executive Goals

When Tia reflects on powerful women in entertainment that she looks up to, she thinks of women like Nicole Brown and Alana Mayo, presidents of TriStar and Orion Pictures respectively, and Shondaland founder Shonda Rhimes. The latter's book, Year of Yes, inspired her to stay positive and embrace new opportunities even when they seemed frightening.

The lessons Tia learned from the book came full circle when she received a call from the Television Academy Foundation, asking if she would like to accept a summer internship with her host company, Shondaland. During her time in BU's Study Abroad Los Angeles Program, she also interned at Media Res and NBCUniversal. Following graduation in 2022, Tia worked at William Morris Endeavor (WME) in the Voice Over and TV Scripted departments. She is currently an assistant at Proximity Media, a multimedia company founded by Ryan Coogler. She is grateful for her tenure at BU in a communications master’s program and knows it has prepared her for her goal of being an entertainment executive who helps create opportunities for underrepresented groups to be and feel seen on screen.
