Meet Your Program Director

Dr. Jennifer Altavilla-Giordano is a lecturer in language education and program director for TESOL Multilingual Learner Education (Licensure) at BU Wheelock. Her career centers on preparing teachers to teach students classified as English learners. Before BU, she worked in K-12 as a literacy coach and as Dean of Faculty at Breakthrough Silicon Valley, and has taught future educators at Stanford, Lesley, and the Alder Graduate School of Education. She also partners with districts to make instruction more culturally and linguistically responsive — so she knows what schools actually need.
